BOOK – Russian Winter
Russian Winter by Daphne Kalotay follows the story of Nina, a famous Russian ballerina. Nina is now living out her twilight years in Boston and has decided to sell her jewelry to benefit the Boston ballet. The book gives a glimpse into the life of artists and citizens of Russia during the Stalinist period of the 1940’s and 1950’s. It involves ballerinas, poets, love, loss and betrayal.
I am a big fan of historical fiction, so I was thrilled to have read this book. I enjoyed how the book unfolded with mystery as it weaved through the present and past. I felt it was a wonderful story of the depiction of the human spirit.
I would give this a 4-shoe rating. When you read this book, let me know if you like Nina? How does she make you feel?
