Autumn’s Basket
“Autumn’s peak performance fills our home with love as a basket of gratitude is deposited at our feet.” By Lori Pelikan Strobel
Our week started off with a check up on our dog’s hip replacement. The good news is that Louie is healing very well. He has regained much of his muscle loss, however, he still needs to be very careful over the next month. Louie must remain on leash, which means he cannot play with his dog friends off leash yet. Over the next month, we expect the bone to begin to adhere to the implant. When this occurs then Louie’s hip will become more stable and he will be able to play with his dog friends.
In order to take the x-rays of his hip, the doctors need to sedate Louie. When he comes out of sedation he is such a little baby and very helpless for the entire day.
My daughters give him so much love and pampering. Both daughters made sure they were home on the day he came back from his appointment. Much cuddling and coddling occurred.
It makes my heart happy to see them care so much for Louie. We are so pleased with Louie’s good news.
Louie was treated to his favorite errands this week which included walks, visits to his favorite coffee shop, a friendly hello to his dog pals,
and of course a little relaxation in his lawn chair.
In the spirit of autumn, I feel a wonderful sense of happiness with Louie’s news and the continuous changing beauty I encounter every single day.
What beauty do you find ahead of you?
Best,
Lori

Autumn is my favorite time of year – clear, crisp mornings and cool days. Perfect hiking weather here in northern Vermont. Most of the leaves are now gone but there is still beauty. An early morning fire is taking the chill out of the house, and in a couple hours I’ll be out doing a run with my dog. On that note, I hope your dog has continued healing.

Mr. Graner, You are right-Autumn in New England is like nothing else anywhere. The weather lately has been perfect. I could get use to this temperature all year. I hope your dog enjoyed his run with you. He is getting to be a big boy! (also hope his house training has improved) Thanks for your thoughts on my dog Louie.
