Lori, I have always gotten rather reflective during autumn as October 8 is my birthday. As I am turning 67 this year, I am not approaching my “golden years” with joy. As my best friend Brian Hermes and I concur, we have dodged a lot of bullets in the past, now we are taking on some hits (physically). I don’t particularly like loosing the strength and stamina of my youth. I hike, bike, kayak, ski, snowshoe (according to the season) and do martial arts daily, and I keep saying… “oh, to be in your 20s.” On the plus side, I do enjoy the freedoms that retirement has given me. Traveling the country and camping in our Airstream, and continuing our hiking and kayaking is such a rewarding experience, as we are now sharing these times with my son, daughter-in-law and now grandson. I keep pushing myself hard, as I have never been a person who can take limitations easily. Sorry that I’m not sending you a lot of beautiful sentiments about being older. Maybe that’s my problem. My wife always says that I need to relax more and take one day at a time. Possibly that will come with time. I hope that this finds you in good health and happy in life. You have always been such a positive person.
