Woof on!

The Dog Owner: Karen Hug-Nagy, freelance writer, blogger

Hi, I’m Karen, the blogger behind Paws of Wisdom, where we offer Paw-some Tips for a Happy Dog!  I’m a Mom of twin teenagers, and a fur Mom to my two dogs, Cody, a mixed breed Black Lab and Nikki, a Border Collie.

My dogs provide me with a healthy dose of sanity and unconditional love every single day. I enjoy spending time with Cody and Nikki, whether we are just hanging out watching TV or taking road trip together. They are my canine buddies who accompany me through life’s ups and downs, always, with a smile on their faces and a wag.

Dog(s) type and Name(s): Nikki, The Smart Border Collie and Cody the Black Lab

Q: Why did you choose these dogs?

K: I chose Nikki and Cody because they needed forever homes. I especially chose Cody, my black Lab because I know that sometimes black dogs get adopted last.

Q: Do you talk to your dogs? If so, what do you talk about?

K: I talk to my dogs all the time. Mostly about how my twin teenagers are driving me crazy.

Q: If they could talk to you, what would they say?

K: If my dogs could talk, Nikki, the border collie would ask me for food constantly, to go outside, for another ride in the car, and for a super long walk. Cody on the other hand would ask me to please fluff up his blankie for him, so he could continue his nap!

Q: If your dogs had a job or career, what would they be doing?

K: Nikki would be a food taster, people food, that is. Cody would be a toy tester; he adores his toys, the more the merrier.

Q: What lesson in life have your dogs taught you?

K: To live in the moment, to always cruise with the windows down, and to smile!

Q: How do your dogs inspire you?

K: Both of my dogs inspire me to put one foot in front of the other every-day and to be happy!

Q: Where is your dog’s favorite place to go with you?

K: Anywhere there is a drive thru where they have treats for dogs!

Q: Who or what do your dogs find the most interesting?

K: Nikki the Border collie loves people, she is a social pup, and Cody is content to stuff as many toys in his mouth as he can.

Q: What is the most annoying thing other dog owners do?

K: Not leash their dogs when they should be. Most dogs do not have a solid recall.

Q:  What does being a responsible dog owner mean to you?

K: Taking care of my dogs, physically and mentally as I do any other member of my family.

Q:  Do you ever dress up your dogs? If so, as what?

K: No, neither one of them will stand for it!

Q:  How have your dogs changed your life?

K: I adore both of my dogs. They make me laugh, and they help me to keep my attitude in check.

Q:  Do your dogs have a philosophy of life?

K: Eat, sleep and be merry!

Q: Have you ever made dog treats for your dogs? If so, please share your recipe.

K: I have never made treats for my dogs; I’m just not a good cook!

KI love my dogs because they are the definition of unconditional love.

WAGGLEVIEWS: These interviews are focused on woman leaders (and some future leaders) in business, the community, or at home. My hope in doing this is to present remarkable and respected women in their community with their beloved pets. Who can resist reading about dogs and what these women do? This is a platform for women to display their talents; their own business, a new book, a deeply loved passion for a charity or their own job. It also shows their love for their dog!
